(Category) Enrichment of the overall educational experience of virtual learning

Led by HKU, Collaborating Universities: CityU, CUHK, PolyU

Dr Leon LEI

eLearning Technologist, Technology Enriched Learning Initiative

The University of Hong Kong

Abstract
The project aims to empower teachers to further integrate learning technologies and educational development practices to make their virtual teaching more learner-centered, scalable and efficient. The four institutions collaborate on providing inter-institutional professional development activities for teachers on learning cutting-edge learning technologies and good practices for virtual instruction. This project also serves as a platform for sharing ideas and experiences of virtual instruction to develop teachers’ fundamental technical and instructional design capacity which prepares the higher education sector for the changing post-COVID global educational landscape.

Scholarship Platform for Teaching and Learning in a Virtual Age

Abstract
This IICA project to develop a multimedia platform by and for language practitioners has active participation from 5 UGC funded language centres in Hong Kong. The platform is called STiLE, Scholarship of Teaching in Language Education. It was motivated by a desire to provide more peer-reviewed outlets for language education practitioners to publish their scholarly work so that others in the language education community can not only use but also develop their practice. As a multimodal platform, it includes digital learning resources for teachers to freely download for use in the classroom, in addition to Reflections on practice and Reviews of resources. This talk will introduce STiLE and welcome feedback.

Prof Irwin KING

Chair of Department of Computer Science and Engineering

Director of Knowledge and Education Exchange Platform (KEEP)

The Chinese University of Hong Kong

Abstract
Advanced learning analytics and virtual reality tools have become increasingly relevant to the higher education sector. To address this need, KEEP, powered by CUHK, has collaborated with three local universities to integrate several gamification plugins and virtual reality tools into its eLearning platform as a way to advance immersive learning experiences. In this talk, we will discuss how the project supports the VIrtual Sandbox for Ubiquitous Active Learning (VISUAL) framework, provides virtual teaching and learning services to institutions, and helps students consolidate knowledge and skills.

Advancing the Learning and Teaching of Academic Integrity and Ethics through Augmented Reality Learning Trails

(Category) Governance frameworks, assessment methods, quality assurance systems and professional best practices of VTL
Led by HKBU, Collaborating Universities: CUHK, EdUHK, PolyU

Dr Theresa KWONG

Director, Centre for Holistic Teaching and Learning

Hong Kong Baptist University

Abstract
The rise of Virtual Teaching and Learning (VTL) and digital assessment brought by the pandemic from 2020 has made it much easier students to conduct academic misconducts, thereby posing an even more urging need to promote Academic Integrity and Ethics (AIE) at universities. This initiative, led by Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) in collaboration with three other local universities, strives to raise the awareness of both university students and teachers on upholding AIE in VTL. Students and teachers are guided students and teachers to embrace AIE along learning trails facilitated with Augmented Reality, where scenarios suiting various VTL contexts are used. For instance, new scenarios on class materials sharing, class recording, and ideas referencing have been developed for learning and teaching of AIE.
